Total External Static Pressure
Total external static pressure from a component list, against the blower rating.
Example
You enter
- Components: label, drop(in. w.c.) per line label filter, drop in wc 0.1, and 5 more
- Blower rated ESP (in. w.c.) 0.5
You get
- Total external static 0.64
- Remaining in wc -0.14
Details, formula, and sources
Total external static pressure summed from a component drop list (filter, coil, registers, duct runs) against the blower fan-table rating, with a pass/fail (ACCA Manual D).
Total external static pressure (TESP) = sum of all external component pressure drops (filter, registers, grilles, wet coil, dampers, duct-run friction); remaining = blower rated ESP - TESP; within rating when TESP <= rated.
Total external static pressure roll-up - the sum of every external resistance the blower must overcome, checked against the blower fan table's rated static - per ACCA Manual D and the ASHRAE / SMACNA duct-design practice, by name; first-principles pressure accounting.
First-principles pressure accounting. Component drops are user-supplied from the manufacturer tables or a manometer; the blower fan table governs the delivered CFM at this static.
Estimate. AHJ and licensed mechanical contractor govern. ACCA Manual J / D / S supersede rules of thumb.
