Gas Appliance Connected Load (CFH)
Total connected BTU/hr and the cubic feet per hour that feeds gas-pipe sizing.
Example
You enter
- Appliances 100000, 40000, 65000, 35000
- Fuel natural_gas
You get
- Total connected load 240000 BTU/hr
- Demand 240
Details, formula, and sources
Total connected BTU/hr from an appliance schedule and the cubic-feet-per-hour demand for natural gas or propane that feeds gas-pipe sizing.
total_btuh = sum(appliance input ratings); cfh = total_btuh / heating_value. Default heating values: 1,000 BTU/ft^3 natural gas, 2,516 BTU/ft^3 propane (editable).
IFGC 2021 Section 402 (402.2 connected load) and NFPA 54 (National Fuel Gas Code) by name; first-principles energy-to-volume conversion.
