Audio Speaker Time Alignment
Required delay-tower delay (ms) from speed-of-sound formula; Haas-window offset.
Example
You enter
- Distance from mains (ft) 80
- Distance from delay (ft) 30
- Ambient (°C) 22
- Haas offset (ms) 15
You get
- Speed of sound 344.632
- Time difference 44.22 ms
- Recommended delay 59.2 ms
Details, formula, and sources
Speed of sound c = 331.3 + 0.606 × T_C (m/s). Delay-tower delay (ms) = distance_m / c × 1000. Haas-window offset 10-30 ms recommended for delayed system natural-source perception.
Classical acoustics; AES (Audio Engineering Society) information documents on time-alignment by name.
