Accessible Parking Space Count (2010 ADA Standards 208.2)
Two rules, and the second is the one that gets skipped.
Example
You enter
- Parking spaces in ONE parking facility 100
- Number of such facilities (separate lots) on the site 1
- Accessible spaces provided (site total) 4
You get
- Required accessible 4
- Required van 1
- Required car 3
- Van short 1
Details, formula, and sources
Table 208.2 sets the accessible count from the lot total; 208.2.4 then requires one VAN space for every six OR FRACTION OF SIX of those -- so 100 spaces owe 4 accessible, and those 4 still owe 1 van. Seven owe two. Above 500 the table stops being a lookup: 501 to 1,000 is 2% of the total, so a 500-space lot owes 9 and a 501-space lot owes 11 -- one space added adds two. Over 1,000 it is 20 plus one per 100 or fraction. And the table applies PER PARKING FACILITY, not per site: four separate lots of 26 owe 8 accessible spaces where the same 104 in one lot would owe 5, so splitting the parking raises the requirement.
Table 208.2 by lot total: 1-25 -> 1; 26-50 -> 2; 51-75 -> 3; 76-100 -> 4; 101-150 -> 5; 151-200 -> 6; 201-300 -> 7; 301-400 -> 8; 401-500 -> 9; 501-1,000 -> 2% of the total; 1,001 and over -> 20 plus 1 for each 100 or fraction thereof over 1,000. Van spaces = ceil(required accessible / 6) per 208.2.4. The table is applied to each parking facility separately.
