A van space is 132 in -- eleven feet -- UNLESS the aisle is widened to 96 in, in which case the space may drop to 96 in. So there are two legal van layouts, 132+60 and 96+96, and both total 192 in of pavement: which to stripe is a layout decision, not a compliance one, and that usually unsticks a tight lot. The aisle must run the FULL LENGTH of the space, and on ANGLED van spaces must sit on the PASSENGER side -- the one rule flipping the stripes cannot fix. Van spaces, aisles, AND the route serving them need 98 in of clearance.
